About Matt

First and foremost...

La Mesa resident Matt Strabone, the ONLY candidate certified by the California Municipal Treasurers Association, is a professional treasurer and attorney who is passionately committed to doing the right thing. Whether he’s fighting for crucial transparency and ethics reforms or volunteering his fiscal and legal expertise to charities and others in need, Matt strives each and every day to build a better community.

The grandson of immigrants and the first in his mother’s family to graduate from college, Matt first moved to California 18 years ago to attend law school at USC. He has gone on to have a successful professional career that has included owning his own business, passing good-government laws in cities and states across the nation, and performing legal work for President Barack Obama and other elected leaders.

In his spare time, Matt is an avid sports fan and enjoys traveling the world with his wife.

Community Leadership

Matt has been involved with community groups and causes across our region for years and he is proud to have played an active role in Sierra Club San Diego, the Holiday Bowl Committee, the League of Conservation Voters of San Diego, the Truman National Security Project, the San Diego Leadership Alliance, the Filipino Resource Center, and the La Mesa-Foothills Democratic Club.
